Cabela's Cabela's Trans-Alaska Series Insulator Jacket – Tall

When he won the Iditarod in 2006, four-time champion Jeff King said a "critical part" of his layering system was the new Trans-Alaska MicroDown Insulator Jacket. It's made with MicroDown, an all-new water-resistant, high loft insulating material that is comparable to goose down, and is also machine washable. The shell is durable nylon ripstop material. The combination of high-loft insulation with a lightweight shell makes the garment very stuffable with an excellent heat-to-weight ratio. Stuff bag included. Imported. Tall sizes: M-3XL. Colors: Blue, Onyx, Olive, Dark Rust.

Versatile Insulation Layer

Date:April 11, 2008
I bought the Insulator Jacket on sale & found it to be very warm, light and packable. It is similar in warmth and weight to goose down, but dries in much less time. The insulation in the hood is more than adequate. There is a drawcord at the hem that is very effective for sealing out the wind, which can steal heat no matter what insulation is used in the jacket. I have several other liner jackets, but this is by far my favorite.

Synthetic down

Date:March 24, 2008
Extremely light and extremely warm. Great layering garment. Packs up so small you can store it easily in small back pack. Take this plus one sweater and a outer shell and you can manage any weather conditions.

Insulator Jacket

Date:March 18, 2008
very lightweight and compacts easily in a backpack when not in use. Good jacket for when on the move. Suprisingly warm for its weight, but have not had the chance yet to test it in very cold weather

Perfect for the backcountry

Date:February 11, 2008
I used this jacket as an insulating layer duringa 5 day backcountry ski trip in the Tetons. The jacket worked very well. A couple of the days were -12 with windchill of -22 and I was warm and comfortable. In the evenings the jacket dried quickly and was ready for more action in the morning. I would highly recommend this jacket. It packs easy and and is lightweight.

Cabela's Insulator Jacket- Tall

Date:February 1, 2008
This is my second insulator jacket. The first one I use for hunting, this one for everyday wear. They are the warmest jacket I own. Extremely light, and not bulky. You can shoot a bow easily with one on. Excellent under main waterproof outerlayer in really cold conditions. Hunters should try this one.

tall insulator jacket

Date:December 27, 2006
i bought this jacket as an insulation layer to wear under my coat when the mercury drops, but the jacket proved capable of standing up to the elements all by itself. it weights next to nothing yet completely blocks the harshest winds. great by itself for winter days and slips nicely under a another jacket for winter nights. hood fits perfectly...great product!
