Simmons Simmons® .44 Mag Series Riflescopes

The .44 Mag Series features a classic riflescope that is being reintroduced in 2009. With its signature 44mm objective and distinctive lines, the .44 Mag will regain its place among the top of the riflescope ranks. Reliable and rugged, there is a Simmons scope for just about any hunting application, and Simmons has redesigned all the scopes in this series. From rimfire to high caliber rifles, shotguns and pistols, Simmons has a scope to fit your needs. Each scope features TrueZero? Flex Erector System for a nonshifting point-of-aim at all magnifications and adjustment settings. The Quick Target Acquisition (QTA?) eyepiece is a fast-focus system with a constant 3-3/4" eye relief through all power ranges. That gives you faster, more reliable target acquisition through its optically superior expanded eyebox. TrueZero windage and elevation dials stay dead-on throughout the life of the scope with no deviation in click value throughout the full adjustment range. The Aetec model features Simmons' Aspherical Lens Technology, which gives you wider, flatter and sharper images from edge to edge. Each scope sports superior, high-transmission lens coatings. Offered in varying magnification configurations for all hunting situations, the .44 Mag Series now has side-focus adjustment and target turrets available on select scopes.

Simmons 44 mag rifle scope 6-21 x 44 mil dot SF

Date:December 29, 2009
I have been researching rifle scopes in this price range for some time. It seemed that Simmons scopes were one of the few that received good reviews for having clearly focused optics through out the entire magnification range. I found this to be true in this Simmons 44 mag model. It is bright and clear from 6 right up through 21 power and the side parallax focus keeps the target and the mil dots in perfect focus. At the 10X setting the mil dots represent exactly 3.5 inches at 100 yards. The Quick Target Acquisition Eyepiece with it's fast focus feature are really nice and work smoothly. It's 1/8 inch target turrets adjust accurately, but took a little getting use to for me. I found the arrow markings on the turrets a bit confusing compared to other scopes I have owned, so make sure that you are adjusting the windage and elevation in the direction that you desire. I could hardly believe how light this scope is for its size and variety of functions. The Simmons 44 mag weighs just 11.8 ounces compared to other scopes of this type which usually run right around 20 ounces. The scope comes with a very nice 3 inch sun shade which I have already made good use of. I have so far fired 150 rounds of 308 through my FR-8 Mauser and the scope has maintained it's zero perfectly. Today after firing approximately 50 rounds at ranges from 50 to 500 yards I fired a final 100 yard group to check my zero before calling it a day. The three shot group came in at just 1/2 inch and right on target. That is the tightest group I have ever fired with any weapon let alone this relic Mauser. I was using 155 grain Hornady A-max bullets and a recently installed Timney trigger, but know that the clear sight picture of the Simmons 44 mag scope help to make this group possible. I think the Simmons 44 mag scope is a real steal for it's on sale price, and was certainly a step up for me over the 3-9X that I replaced. At 300 yards I could see 30 caliber bullets holes on white paper when using the scope in the 15-21X power range, I think that is clear enough for most sighting needs.
