Customer Reviews for COLD STEEL Cold Steel® Boar Spear

COLD STEEL Cold Steel® Boar Spear

Modeled after lethal designs dating back to the European Renaissance, this powerfully built weapon should be the first choice of modern spear hunters. The spearhead is cold-forged from medium-carbon SK-5 steel and heat-treated to a spring temper. The detachable spearhead's long steel shaft doubles as a handle for versatile use as a tool or weapon. Two screws firmly secure the tapered, pressure-fit spearhead shaft to the pike. Extra-stout, premium ash-wood pike shaft. Includes leather sheath. Overall length: 6'10". Head length: 18-1/2". Weight: 1-1/4-lbs. (head only), 4-1/4-lbs. (with shaft).

Garden Trowel

Date:May 6, 2011
This is the worst design I have ever seen. The picture is misleading.
Turn the spear head over, and you will see it is a piece of sheet metal STAMPED into a spearhead like shape.
It doesn't even look good on the wall because it is obvious to anyone that looks.
The shaft is literally a Shovel handle.
Once I had it in my hands, it looked like a sharpened garden trowel. It is even concave.
I will never trust cold steel again.

Grunt Approved

This is a great product. People are stressing out about the screws but really its not a big problem. Take your drill, make two holes where they should be, put the screws in, tighten, done. People breaking screws and stripping them just don't know what they are doing.
I'm an amputee in a wheelchair and I had no problem with it... losers. Going hunting with it this evening. Careful, its bloody sharp.

Not so good

Date:September 22, 2010
Blade arrived sharp--fit on handle provided with some effort. Screws provided to secure to handle appeared flimsy but decided to try installation as instructed. First screw would not grab wood and stripped when attempted to tighten--second screw i actually broke head off trying to get tight. Required drilling new holes and using heavier screws for secure installation. For the price i expected better attachment hardware. Do not buy unless u want to rework the installation process.

Sharp but mistakes

Date:July 21, 2010
It was razor sharp and cut through the box but the screws were the wrong size and didn't work.
