MasterBuilt Masterbuilt Surf and Turk Cooker

Safety is of paramount concern when working with large fryers, and this model is packed with special safety features. It's controlled by an adjustable thermostat with a safety shut-off switch; it won't operate unless the control panel and heating element are mounted correctly. An inner pot and external shell reduce heat on the outside of the unit. It's countertop-safe and CSA certified to UL 1083 household electric cooking appliances. This unit can handle almost any boiling or frying job. Fry turkey, shrimp, oysters and much more. Also boil nearly any food to your liking. A glass lid with cool-grip handle keeps splatter inside and lets you see the cooking process. The Turkey Tap? drain on the 28-qt. inner pot removes liquid quickly. Stainless steel heating element, aluminum boiling basket with drain clip and lifting hook included. Arrives fully assembled.

Electric Turkey Deep Fryer

Date:December 30, 2006
We deep fried our turkey on Christmas Day in the house - RIGHT ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER - WITHOUT ANY MESS! This is AWESOME - we have used the propane type for years, then we heard about this product.
The Turkey was Crisp on the outside yet Extremely Tender and VERY MOIST THROUGHOUT! You can cook up to a 14 lb turkey in this product. It takes 3 1/2 mins per pound so our 14# turkey was cooked in 49 mins! It took about 1 hour to heat the oil and then less then 1 hour to cook the bird - A Holiday Feast in 2 Hours! I will Never do the all day roasting again! Plus you have the oven free for all the other items - a complete WIN-WIN situation.
This Fryer / Steamer has everything you need - you can preset the temperature that you want to use and when it is ready there is a light to alert you. There is a timer for use while cooking. And best of all the front-bottom has a built in spigot type drain for the oil. The drain even has a cover over it to prevent any accidental bumping while in use. Just let the oil cool and then open the drain, and it will pour into your container. You can dispose of it or filter the oil to reuse if you like, however, most of the food particles settle in the bottom of the pan, making clean up very easy. Peanut Oil is a very healthy oil to cook with as well!
We will use this product for Turkeys, Chickens, Hot Wings, Seafood & Potatoes! Steaming Seafood & Vegies! The ideas are limitless and it came with a mini cookbook. It was SO EASY and the clean-up was VERY Very minimal.
WE ARE EVEN BUYING ONE FOR OUR SON - IT IS THAT GREAT!
DO NOT SETTLE FOR THE Mega-Department Store Chain that is selling a very "cheap" version that does not have any of these features (timer, tempature gauge, or drain) and has a very flimsy wire mesh basket that would never hold a turkey! It is a JOKE! You would be extremely disappointed!!!!
The only downside I could see to this product is this price - I did see this identical item locally for 1/3 less! Watch for it to go on sale here at Cabela's! They always stand behind their sales IF you would have a problem!!!! I am still happy with my purchase even at a higher price - Cabela's always has treated me right!

Beyond a turkey fryer

Date:November 5, 2007
Love my fryer. It's HUGE, but, light...easy to clean and use. So far I have made onion rings, french fries, calamari, shrimp and cod. They all cooked to perfection and nothing was soggy. Don't know if I'll ever get to the turkey because I want to make doughnuts first. I have been using it outside on our back porch, however, since it hardly makes a mess....I would imagine using it inside will be just as easy. It's my new best friend!!

Excellent fryer

Date:December 13, 2007
I bought this to make Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey was moist and delicious. Fryer was really easy to clean up. Have a gas fryer, but didn't want to stand outside due to really cold weather. Fried the turkey in the basement and I stayed warm. Our gas fryer is going on the next garage sale.

The best since fried chicken!!!

Date:January 28, 2008
I have been a deep fried turkey guy from the beginning. My buddy Woody has been telling me to get an electric one for years. No way! You need gas fire and guts to deep fry turkeys. Well I have since changed my mind. I have now done more deep frying old school way the new electric way than I have done in years. I really like the temperature controls and ease of this beast. It allows me to do other things while I am cooking. And the spout feature allows for easy draining. Save the oil. Any one knows how long it's suppose to last let me know? I am buying one for my Travel trailer since this one will now stay at home. Mateo

Just simply Great!!!!!!!!!!!

Date:July 14, 2008
We have used it on corn and shrimp. My wife says its the best corn she has ever eaten. I cooked 2 dozen corn at one time and the ones that were not in the water steamed to perfection and were just as good if not better than the ones that were in the water. We cooked four dozen shrimp and fish fillets at a family reunion. They turned out perfectly, Just follow the directions you can't go wrong. Easy to clean, the electric is so handy you can set the cooker anywhere thats handy. We love it!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Fryer

Date:July 22, 2008
I bought this unit last week and used it to fry up some fresh caught walleye from Lake Erie. The "assembly" was nothing more than removing the packing cardboard and dropping the control/heating element unit in place. We used the cooker on the kitchen counter with no mess and no problems. Simply set the desired temperature and wait for the beep. It did a nice job of maintaining temp during the whole process. Clean up was a snap since it has the spigot to drain the oil and then disassembles for cleaning. Great product. The only con was the short cord.
