Great Ammo

Date:December 24, 2012
I have a Browning A-Bolt .223 topped with a Nikon Prostaff BDC, and found this ammo to be excellent. Not sure why others are having accuracy problems with this ammo, however I myself have consistently received accuracy within 1/2 inch...some times even better. Others must have higher standards I guess, especially since the HPR ammo is half the cost of other brands.

Used Brass - Too Many Jams

Date:September 23, 2012
"Factory Processed Brass"? Slick marketing - HPR didn't put that it is used brass on the package, you only find that out on HPR's web site. So anyway, I bought two boxes of this stuff from the Reno Cabela's while I was up there on some business, and go out to the range, and first one I pull out of the box has a case split down the side! So I feed a few rounds through my AR and about the 5th one... JAM! So I clear the round, two rounds fine, next one JAM! Clear that one... whoops! Another case split! I really start to wonder at this point. I think they paid more attention to their slick marketing and all the fancy holographics on their boxes then they paid to the detail of the ammunition! So after three more jams.. (yeah - 3 more).. I said enough is enough, open up the other box thinking maybe it's just a bad box... NOPE! Rinse, repeat!.. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this stuff like the plague! Cabela's HERTERS is better than this stuff! (And that's saying something)

Awesome!!

Date:May 21, 2012
I grabbed a box of the 60 grain VMAX at the Glendale AZ store for some coyote hunting in the desert...WOW....not a single problem in my AR...and dropped a dog from 100+ yards....with one shot! The VMAX is accurate and is a very effective hunting round! It is a value compared to similar rounds. HIGHLY recommend these rounds.

Ammo Won't Chamber

Date:April 15, 2012
I bought a box at the Ft Worth Cabelas because it was a good price and appeared to be well made. A real plus it's American made. I fired 4 rounds with no trouble. I cleaned the rifle and let it cool down. The 5th round would not chamber fully and the bolt would not close so I tried another round and it would chamber but the bolt was stiff to close so I didn't fire the round. I suspected I had left a piece of cleaning cloth in the chamber but after a thorough check by me and 2 others at the range we determined that there was no problem with the relatively new Weatherby Vanguard. I fired several different brands of ammo with no trouble. A closer inspection of the ammo revealed it was Lake City previously fired brass a fact not noted on the ammo box but addressed at the HPR web site. This stuff will probably shoot fine in a 5.56 but not a close tolerance.223 rifle. Don't waste your money. I'll contact the manufacturer but I don't expect any results.
