Federal's XM40HB in the silver box are topped with the company's high-tech HST bullets in 155 grain. ICE and the Border Patrol issue it as their duty round. The box just doesn't advertise it. Federal sells the same bullet in 180 grain on their P40HST1 rounds. The main differences are weight, cartridge color and type of box they come in.

Cycles great. No failures. Great expansion and low flash. Performs as advertised. Kind of high priced but I got what I paid for. No complaints.

Federal makes some of the best ammunition around. But, this particular round has such a rugged hollow point, that the jacket occasionally catches and jams while feeding if the gun isn't oiled properly.
But, this ammo does leave a devistating exit hole and does a lot of damage for the money.

"Tactical" Hydra Shock?

I just received my order and also found out that it is not loaded with a Hydra Shock bullett, no center post that would be a true Hydra Shock design. I does have a large hollow point that will simulate function and feeding of a normal Hydra Shock bullett. These days still a good buy for what appears to be quality ammo.

This is not Hydra-Shock ammo

So that you know before you purchase this product. These rounds are NOT Hydra Shock bullets as Cabelas advertises but merely Fedral's JHP bullet. You can tell the difference because the "post" is not in these rounds like the Hydra Shock bullets do. I just bought 5 boxes from them. However, I beleive this is still a good round at a good price so I will be keeping them.
