A great product from a great company!

Date:March 26, 2010
My first experience with a muzzleloader was with a Hawken. It was hard to start and hard to ram down the load. I was very wary of purchasing one; but the bug got to me! After bowhunting for sometime I was very curious about the modern muzzleloaders especially Traditions' brand. I chose well!
I am a discerning shopper! The Pursuit XLT is EASY to load. That put half of my worries to rest. If you are hoping to get into the hobby/sport, look into Traditions brand muzzleloaders. It is worth every penny, and sadly overlooked for CVA or Thompson Center guns.
This one, the XLT, is fun to shoot, and is fairly accurate. I don't know about me though! 150 grains of 777 is way too much, and feels like a shotgun's recoil ... in my opinion. 50 grains ought to do it. Use a ball starter and a good ramrod from Cabela's; don't use the ramrod on the gun! Power Belt bullets are good, but I really liked the Hornady saboted bullets.
Once I get to shooting better, I will definitely be looking for hogs with this thing.

Great gun right out of the box

Date:November 2, 2009
I just sighted in my pursuit XLT. It was dead on at 50 yards right out of the box! I thought the sight looked too far back so I moved it up before I shot the first time. After a couple of shots I ended up moving it back to the exact spot it was in out of the box! It might of just been mine but trust the sights right out of the box. It shot groupings of less than an inch apart at 50yards dead on. With a scope you could get this gun dialed in a long way out.(to bad MN wont let you hunt with one) I was using two triple seven 50grain pellets and a 245grain powerbelt hollow point bullet. Also very easy to clean. Cant wait to get a deer with it!

Good Gun; Great Price

Date:January 5, 2009
A lot of bells & whistles on this that would cost twice as much as a Thompson. Cleans & loads easy. Took some playing with to get it to shoot--HATES Shockey's Gold sticks--14" groups at 100 yards. I switched to 100 gr. (2 pellets) of 777 with Thompson ballistic tipped (Hornady low drag) sabot & I'm now dialed in with sub 2" groups s at 100 yards.
All & all a pretty good deal on a pretty good gun.
