Customer Reviews for CVA PowerBelt™ AeroTip™ Copper Plated Bullets

CVA PowerBelt™ AeroTip™ Copper Plated Bullets

Enjoy all the benefits of sabot-like performance without any of the drawbacks of using sabots. A patented snap-on base creates a perfect gas seal, resulting in consistent pressures and accuracy. Gas blow-by is eliminated, creating consistently higher velocities. Unlike sabot rounds, these projectiles are full-caliber size, are easy to load and don’t require cleaning after each shot. No plastic residue is left behind, so you can shoot up to eight shots between recommended barrel swabs. The three PowerBelt configurations are tailored to specific applications. The AeroTip’s superior flight performance results in longer, flatter trajectories and controlled expansion. They’re ideal for deer, elk and black bear. Hollow-Point PowerBelts deliver maximum expansion on thin-skinned game such as deer and varmints. Use Flat-Point PowerBelts for hard-hitting punches on heavy-skinned game such as bear and moose. For clean, accurate, game-dropping muzzleloader ammunition, there’s a PowerBelt bullet that meats your needs. Available: Copper – PowerBelt copper-plated bullets are the most popular muzzleloading projectiles since the lead round ball. They’re the bullets that made sabots obsolete and offer the widest variety of bullets and weights in the PowerBelt line. PowerBelt’s pure-lead bullets are perfect for economy-minded shooters and for use in states where copper-plated bullets are not allowed. ATTENTION: Residents of DC and MA please check your local laws for restrictions before ordering any shot or bullet products.

Why do they do this?

Date:January 9, 2012
They are very accurate but do not make a big enough hole going in therefore they do not Bleed so it's hard ot track the Deer because it usually does nopt penetrate the other side

223gr powerbelts

Date:December 20, 2011
Switched from 195gr T/C shockwaves because too difficult to load in my encore and near impossible in my sons CVA wolf. Also had accuracy issues and bad tears on my paper targets. Switched to the powerbelts so my 12 year son can load himself with very little effort. 100gr 777, dropped his first buck at about 140 yards.

Nail Driving Accuracy!

Date:December 19, 2011
50 cal, 245 gr.
CVA Accura V2
150 gr equivalent - Triple Seven (3 pellets)
At 100 yards, I can take 5 shots (without cleaning) and have all holes touching. I initially tried T/C shockwaves in this gun, but the sabots were literally being blown to pieces causing shot placement to vary wildly.

JUNK

Date:December 19, 2011
Im shooting the 245 grains Power Belt Copper with 150 grn powerdex out of an TC Impact. They are great for shooting paper but I shot a doe last night and was surprised to find no blood. She was with 4 other deer and ran off at the shot. I did not see her go down but marked the spot she ran inot the woods. I looked for 15 minutes for blood and then ended up walking up on her. There was no blood what so ever with one small hole in her chest. I will try something else next year.

Love them power belts!

Date:October 24, 2011
First time I have really shot them myself but had a friend that did.A freind and i both just bought CVA Optimas and took them out to sight in. He was shooting hornady sabots i was shooting the power belts.I only needed 5 shots to get sited in while he was having trouble with the sabots tumbling out of his.He changed over to the power belts to get his gun sited in. Love how easy the go in even after shooting multible rounds without cleaning.

not good, don't waste your money

Date:September 30, 2011
I shot a small deer at 30 yds in northern NH. The bullet expanded on the shoulder and never penertrated the body. It was just flat under the hide. The only reason the animal died was because the shock brused a lung. I'm glad it wasnt the big one. What a disappointment. I switched back to the TC 245gr hollow point, and dropped a nice buck in Vermont a few weeks later.

worst bullet ever

Date:September 16, 2011
I used these for the 2010 hunting season. I hit a deer at 40 yds through the lungs and he walked 3 steps and stopped. He didnt even act like he was hit. I hit him again and this time he jumped and ran a few yards and stopped. He stood there looking around for almost 5 minutes before he layed down. He layed down with his head up for a couple more minutes before laying down for good. When I gutted him, I found that the bullets hit both lungs and the liver. There was NO EXPANSION at all. The holes were clean through, no energy transfer at all. Sure, they load easily and are accurate at the range, but they don't work on game.

Good Bullet

Date:September 13, 2011
I like this Bullet. It's very accurate in my rifle.
But, at least in my rifle barrel, shoots a one inch
group at 50 yd's for the first three shots.
After that I must clean the barrel.

Didn't work for me!

Date:August 17, 2011
I purchase bothe the 245gr and the 295gr Areo tip Powerbelts to use in my newly purchased CVA Optima. Since I purchased this gun and scope as a Kit from Cabela's and it wasn't bore sighted it took a while to get it on paper. At 25 yards, the Powerbelts were true on. Out at 50 yards, they were all over the place! Couldn't get any consistency. Switched to the 245gr T/C Shockwaves that came with the kit and they were dead-on at 50 and 100 yards. Now that I see that Sabots shoot better out of this gun, I will be switching to the Barnes T-EZ!

Good for the Encore

Date:July 29, 2011
I purchased 4 different brands of non-sabot bullets for my new TC Encore .50 muzzleloader barrel to try to find out what would produce the best results out of this particular barrel. I tested all brands using 100 gr charge of Triple 7 FFg. The PowerBelts were the most accurate (3" group, open sites, 100 yds) and the easiest to load. I haven't spent much time trying different charges but for an upcoming elk hunt I didn't want to go below 100 gr of powder.

EasyLoadingErraticShooting

Date:March 2, 2011
I read an article promoting use of powerbelt .45 cal. aerotip 275 gr. muzzleoading bullets for accuracy & distance. The only positive result of my experience was they load easy regardless of powder choice. As far as acuracy is concerned, there was none. Too many fliers made it impossible to zero my gun.
I now am using T/C 200 grain Shockwave bullets with two Triple 7 pellets in my T/C ProHunter equipped with a .45 cal. Bergara barrel. Shooting consistent groups under 2 inches at 50 plus yards.

Consistent & Excellent

Date:March 1, 2011
I've used these same PowerBelt bullets since I started hunting with a muzzleloader/black powder. They've consistently given me excellent results and provide excellent balastic damage to your target. I've shot and killed all my deer during black powder with these sabots; all one shot, one kill. I've had more difficult "head on" shots with some deer and the bullets provided the solid balastic damage to ensure a clean and quick kill. Highly recommended.
