Great idea; lousy design

Date:November 7, 2013
I've been a fan of the Snapshot series of reels since they first came out, but about 10 years ago, they made a major design change that really messed up the reliability. The newer design uses a bunch of sliding surfaces in the Snapshot linkage, and all that sliding friction creates sloppy and sticky action and rapid wear. I have an old SX model that still works just great, but all the newer ones I buy become unusable in less than a summer. I hope Zebco/Quantum engineers return to the older design... it was great. The new ones just don't cut it.

Poor Choice!

Date:June 30, 2013
After reading the reviews I thought I would take a chance. Even at the store two reels out of four were broken. The sales guy said it's from all the kids playing with the reels. So I bought one. After a half hour fishing I pulled the trigger and snap. That must be where the name "Snapshot" came from because after that I felt like shooting it in the river. The trigger broke just like the others. I'm sticking with Shimano.

Great reel

Date:October 15, 2012
I recently purchases 3 of the larger size reels. Fished for smallmouth casting crankbaits and tubes all day...not a problem. Great value for the money!!

pathetic excuse for a fishing rod

Date:August 14, 2011
I bought 2 of these for my daughter to use on recent fishing trip. Within 5 casts the triggers on both reels broke. Both broke in the exact same place with 2 different people using them. Save your money, don't even consider these.
